How to Draw Mickey A Step-by-Step Guide

The history of animation is filled with many characters that have become famous all over the world. It would be hard to find a more iconic animated character than Mickey Mouse. Some would say that Mickey is the most recognizable cartoon character ever created, appearing in every medium imaginable. 

This character has many iterations, but he is always instantly identifiable. Despite this, learning how to draw Mickey can still be challenging! That’s what this tutorial helps you with, so be sure to read to the end! How to Draw Mickey – Let’s get Started!

Step 1

In this guide on how to draw Mickey, we will describe his classic modern design. To do this, we will remove the outline of his head and face since this is the most recognizable part of his drawing. He begins by drawing a small rounded oval shape for his nose. 

This will be joined by rounded lines at the top of his snout and the smiling mouth below him. You can use more rounded lines for the open mouth below it and stick your tongue inside. Next, we’ll draw Mickey’s most iconic look; Her ears from him! His ears are rounded and almost circular and will sit on top of his head, meeting in rounded lines. Once you have completed this plan, you can move on to step 2!

Step 2

To continue this drawing of Mickey, we will now add some facial details and the beginning of his body. First, we’ll start with his eyes. These can be drawn using thin oval shapes for the outlines. Next, we’ll add smaller black ovals for his pupils. To finish his face, draw rounded lines around the front to make it a separate section. 

Then use curved lines so that his arms extend. We’ll add his gloved hands shortly in the next step! Then use rounded lines to draw the shorts he is wearing. These shorts wouldn’t be complete without his signature buttons, so you can style them up using little ovals on the front of his pants.

Step 3

Mickey is almost always seen wearing his big white gloves, and we’ll add them in this third step of our guide on how to draw Mickey. Each hand will have a rounded edge where the glove meets the arm. Then you can use a few more curved lines to extend them. 

Hands can be a bit tricky to draw, so this is a step where you might want to work closely with our reference image when trying to replicate what we show there. Once you have your hands, you’re ready for step 4 of this guide.

Step 4

In this fourth part of your Mickey drawing, you’ll start with Mickey’s legs as we move on to the final elements and details of this drawing. Extend some slightly curved lines from the legs of your pants to start. These lines will have rounded bases to create the shapes of his legs. 

To complete this part, we’ll draw more rounded edges at the bottom of her legs, as shown in the reference image. Once the portions are removed, we’ll move on to step five of the guide, where you’ll fill in the final details and elements of this drawing.

Step 5

You are now ready to complete the final details and elements of this guide on how to draw Mickey. Once these final touches are added, you’re prepared for the last step, where you can color it in! For now, let’s draw his famous shoes. 

These will be attached to the edges at the base of the legs, as shown in the reference image. His boots are pretty broad and very rounded, and the backs of his feet will be against each other. You can finish the shoes by adding an upward curved fold line. 

The final element of this design will be adding a thick, curved line from the back of his shoe to the right so that his tail rests on the ground.
